| In today’s world, a man faces multiple commitments to his family, workplace, community, and Church. Every day these responsibilities seem to grow while the time to meet them dwindles. It can be daunting for today’s man to find time to volunteer. However, consider this: If you give only 24 hours per year to the Knights of Columbus, you could have a positive impact in your community and Church. Here is an illustration of how little time it takes to be an active member in the Order: Six hours to support a council-sponsored Church, community, council, family, or youth project of your choice. These may include Special Olympics, Blood Drives, Columbus Day Parade, Free Throw Contest, and Father-Daughter Dance. Four hours to attend two council business meetings, which are held on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at 8:00 PM. We try to finish by 9:15 and then enjoy some fraternalism. It’s a great way to find out what’s happening and make sure your voice is heard when important decisions aremade. Six hours for you and your family to enjoy two or three council social functions such as a Friday Night dinner or monthly breakfast. Four hours to volunteer at our annual Tootsie Roll drive to assist individuals with intellectual disabilities. Two hours for you and your family to attend one of our Communions followed by complimentary breakfast or coffee at our Hall. One hour to read the council web site (kofc8736.org). One hour to speak with a Knights of Columbus fraternal benefits agent to ensure that your family is protected now and in the years to come. Almost any man can fit these activities into his schedule. There are 8,760 hours in a year. By dedicating only 24 of those hours to the Knights, a man has an opportunity to become a better father, husband, and member of the community.
